ABOUT US
About TEDxProspectHill
TEDxProspectHill is an independently organized TEDx event licensed under the global TEDx platform. Rooted in the Prospect Hill neighborhood of New Haven, this event brings together voices from community, nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and academia to foster dialogue, build connections, and create opportunities for meaningful partnerships. By bridging gaps between groups, TEDxProspectHill seeks to amplify diverse perspectives and strengthen collaboration across sectors.
This is an initiative to create community conversation. With the goal to create further collaboration between academic institutions and community voice, TEDxProspectHill aims to bring change that can be felt and created by the people, with research reflecting effective methods of doing so.

This year we are exploring the theme "What If?", inviting community to share perspectives that spark conversation and reimagine the systems we live within.
About TEDx
TEDx is a global grassroots initiative that brings the spirit of TED to local communities. The 'x' in 'TEDx' stands for "independently organized events." Organized by local volunteers, TEDx events create space for fresh ideas, powerful stories, and voices that spark dialogue and connection. With thousands of events held each year worldwide, TEDx helps bridge divides and inspires collective action at the local level.
Launched in 1984, TED stands for Technology, Entertainment, Design — three broad subject areas that are collectively shaping our world. The primary purpose of a TED Talk is to spread "ideas worth spreading." These short, powerful presentations aim to inform, educate, and inspire viewers and listeners to think differently about major issues, foster curiosity, and spark positive change.

Goals of TEDxProspectHill
Community Heart Meets Academic Credability
The name "Prospect Hill" represents the historic district within New Haven, led by an interdisciplinary team of thought leaders and academics. The team is aimed at deepening the connection between community and academia by amplifying local community conversations that matter. Creating scalable and sustainable engagement that can be replicated across local academic institutions in Prospect Hill.

A Platform for Bridging Institutional Trust Gaps.
In a time of declining trust in higher education and scientific institutions (Gallup, 2023), this event seeks to help reestablish local universities as community-centered leaders in public knowledge and engagement.

Communities know how to solve their problems. Lets involve them in the conversation and create sustainable and reflected connection.
